Finally, the wait is over and we can play again to a game full of action, mystery and complexity: “Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood” has hit the streets and it promises hours of addictive gameplay. The new release from Ubisoft saw the light of day on November, 16th and is available for all of the PS3 and Xbox 360 players to enjoy. PC players will have to wait until the first quarter of 2011 to put their hands on the 7th installment of the series.
In this brand new adventure you control Ezio Auditore once again and the story revolves around Rome at the times of the Borgia Family. The highly skilled assassin has to enter the city in order to restore the peace and to try to rebuild the city. To accomplish this, he must defeat his well-known enemies (the Templars, which made him escape after their attack in the end of Assassin’s Creed II) and he must face Cesare Borgia and his loyal servants.
But he won’t be alone to pursue his goals: as the name of the game implies, Ezio can now establish a brotherhood with people he rescues throughout the game. Save rebel villagers from the attacks of Rome guards or destroy fortresses and towers to free grateful individuals more than willing to join your cause. These new members will come in handy as support for your missions. You can also send them to explore the continent, which will result in more experience for your allies.
“Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood” is great for a number of reasons and the most important one is that its gameplay has been highly improved in comparison with previous releases of the franchise. The combats are more real and spectacular than ever, there’s a wide variety of weapons, the stealth missions challenge the player in numerous ways and the graphics are simply astonishing. Besides, the reconstruction of the villa allows more options which makes “Brtoherhood” stand closer to the simulation top games’ features. This will evidence itself once you start investing on the city’s restoration, since you’ll see the slums become big marketplaces and the ruins stand up and become statues, aqueducts and marvelous buildings.
In addition, the multiplayer feature adds a whole new dimension with an entertaining and addictive gameplay. The mission in this mode is to kill a specific target by all means necessary but, in the meantime and while you are trying to accomplish your goal, you’re fully aware that you’re someone else’s target. This is an intelligent twist in the typical multiplayer mode included in most games of this type. This aims to a richer multiplayer experience that surpasses the simplicity of just killing someone for the sake of it.
Although the storyline is a bit confusing and the game is too short, “Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood” is definitively worth a try: it has all the necessary features to become a classic and a public’s favorite. One thing’s for sure: once you start playing it, you won’t stop for quite a while. Don’t believe me? Take a look at what it has reserved for you and tell us what you think!
