If you think that commercial software is better over freeware, think twice. We’ve proven that we can find free image editors at the level of Photoshop, or even better. Now we present a list of free video editors that will make you feel like a pro without spending a dime (with a little help from our Facebook friends).
8- Zwei-Stein
Zwei-Stein is a high quality free video editor, aimed to more experienced users since its interface is not very friendly as other programs. Despite its complexity it is very effective and it’s able to perform any action you want to apply to videos.

7- Blender
Blender is a great open source software to edit 3D content, which is always useful when you need to create films, animations, etc. With Blender you can create and edit 3D graphics, sound effects and special effects, among other features.

6- Moviestorm
This video editor is something like Blender. It works mostly with 3D animation rather than video, but it depends on the videos you want to edit. If you want a 3D film editor, Moviestorm is the best option. It offers countless effects and animations and is very easy to use.

5- Movica
Movica is a powerful application that lets you edit video under the extensions WMV, MPEG and FLV in a simple and effective way. This software uses libraries such as AsfBin, flvtool mpgtx, which leads to an easier editing of this type of video that cannot normally be edited.

4- Jahshaka
In Jahshaka (also known as CineFX Jahshaka) you will find a great free software for video editing, coding, animation and visual effects based on Jahshaka technology that lets you get professional results. With this tool you will feel like a Pixar animator.

3- Avidemux
Avidemux is a fairly simple program but it gives good results. With this video editor you can animate, crop, encode and add visual effects to your creations with few clicks. It supports almost all popular video formats (AVI, MPEG, MP4, ASF, etc) as well as DVD files. You can also automate your work with the projects generation or pause current projects.

2- Virtual Dub

Among free video editors, Virtual Dub is a well-known one. This is an open source program regularly updated by their creators, which provides several editing options and the ability to edit two or more videos at once. It can capture video, add filters, transitions, video compress, cut, etc… There is nothing that VirtualDub can’t do.

1- Windows Movie Maker

Finally, the free video editor most used by PC users. Movie Maker offers drag and drop features that let you to edit and create movies easier. Besides the effects and filters you already have pre-installed, Microsoft has more add-ons to download from their site, which makes this program greater than any of the above named. To make matters more interesting, Microsoft has just announced its new suite of Windows Essentials 2012, where Movie Maker is better than ever!
