With all the excitement surrounding the leaked Windows 8 build and the enthusiasm to see the new features firsthand, many internauts are desperate to get their hands on the latest ISO of the Windows operating system. That’s why many of them are downloading almost any file labeled as Windows 8 without even checking the source from which that ISO is coming from. Needless to say, this practice is unsafe, to say the least.
Many potentially harmful files can be distributed disguised as the Windows 8 ISO, so everybody should tread carefully when looking for it. Fortunately, there’s a new application that can help you in identifying the good copies from the dangerous ones: meet Windows 8 ISO Verifier.
This little application has a very simple mechanism to recognize the legitimate Windows 8 ISOs. Through a basic hash check, the app will be able to tell you if the file that you’ve just downloaded is the real deal or not.
To start the check, you just have to open Windows 8 ISO Verifier and browse to the folder in which you’ve stored your Windows 8 ISO file. Once you’ve done this, simply click on the “Check this ISO” button and let the program do its work.
As developers know the ISO will keep changing and it will suffer some modifications, they’ve decided to include an update engine that will keep the program up-to-date. So, if you downloaded it before, you’ll be able to use later.
Finally, and in spite of the application’s simplicity, some of you will be glad to learn that the interface has been translated to several languages, including Portuguese, German, Dutch, Chinese and Czech. The developers also said that they are working on more translations.
