Max Payne is definitely one of the most captivating action games of the last decade. Thanks to a disturbing and dark story that involves countless deaths and secret sects and a revolutionary gameplay with clever Matrix-like movements and bullet cams, this shooting game conquered the hearts of many hardcore gamers around the world. So, one can’t help but wonder when will we be seeing the next installment in the series. Although there are some information available, the question still remains: will Max Payne 3 be one of the top games 2011?
The third edition of the franchise was originally scheduled for a 2009 release but Take-Two Interactive pushed the date to 2010, expressing that the delay was going to give the developers more time to work on the game. It seems that they took too many time, since the game was delayed one more and now it’s rumored to be scheduled for launch in August, 2011.
But although these delays keep getting on our nerves, Rockstar Games have revealed certain details about the game and its plot. The story will be focused on Max once again but this time you’ll find him older and more cynical than ever but his thirst for true remains intact. Twelve years have passed since the last game and now you’ll be wandering about Sao Paulo, working in private sector as a security guard for a rich family.
As for the gameplay, you’ll see the return of the Bullet Cams, which will let you close up in those deaths you have to see in detail. Besides, the bullet time is being tweaked to act more naturally, as well as the enemies and characters’ movements.
This is all the data we have so far. We’ll have to wait and see if the speculations about an August 2011 release are true. Let’s cross our fingers and hope for these rumors to be accurate, since almost 10 years without Max seem like an awful lot of time.
