A few weeks before its release, many Windows users are wondering whether the programs already installed on their computers will be useful when upgrading to Windows 8.
Unfortunately this OS update will not be like Windows XP, Vista or 7 at the time, but it is better to start from scratch for optimal performance of the new OS, as it will be common to find errors in different software compatibility.
We anticipate that time and we offer a list of essential Windows programs that run on Windows 8:
Freeware compatible with Windows 8
Pidgin
Of course, Windows 8 will be 100% compatible with Messenger, however it is always good to have an alternative: Pidgin, the open-source messaging client which is chosen by more users everyday.
CCleaner
Who does not love CCleaner? This is a powerful and lightweight freeware that helps you optimize your computer’s performance by removing unnecessary temporary files, registry errors and manage startup applications. It supports almost 100% with Windows 8, except that (so far) it doesn’t recognize IE 10 for cleaning the cache, history and temporary.
Recuva
From the family of CCleaner, this fantastic freeware lets you recover lost files by “accident.” This is another program that you must have on your computer.
7-zip
Compresses and decompresses files in different formats and seamlessly from Windows 8. The only drawback with this program must be run as administrator (as in Windows Vista and Windows 7).
Web Browsers
The best web browsers will also be present without problems in Windows 8. Of course the OS brings the new Internet Explorer 10 as its default web browser, but users probably prefer other browsers like Firefox, Chrome or Opera. Any of them run smoothly.
