In recent months has launched Windows 8 consumer preview, with all PC users can access a free copy of the new OS from Microsoft. While this is a beta, is a good option to consider by those geeks who love to be at the forefront.

However, since we are talking about a beta, it is very possible that the operating system does not respond properly and crashes or restarts. That is why we first have to make a partition in the hard drive and install Windows 8 there (in case we have any difficulty and we need to go back to our regular Windows)

Improving the user experience of Windows 8

Programs for Windows 8:

Bear in mind that not all applications that use Windows 7 or Vista will run on Windows 8. That is why we recommend you download programs compatible with Windows 8 and be patient until the other apps are available.

The first thing I recommend is a GOOD web browser: besides IE, you should download Firefox or Google Chrome to provide a better browsing experience.

Following this, the beta of Office 2013, maintenance programs like CCleaner and the new suite of Windows Essentials cannot miss from the list of essential programs.

Configuring Windows 8:

One advantage of this new operating system is that you can articulate your Microsoft account (hotmail or live) from the desktop and thus synchronize all media files and general configuration in few clicks. This is similar to what Apple does with its iCloud. To accomplish this, you simply need to go to Settings | User and enter your account info.

If you have problems with this we recommend changing this setting back to a local account and then try again with your Hotmail account (I clarify this because it may not recognize the account correctly). This is a point that Microsoft should improve when they release the final version of Windows 8.

After this integration, we recommend maximizing the Metro interface and pin all your favorite applications on the desktop to access directly. This is not configured by default, so you’ll have to do manually, but it’s simple. Alternatively, type the name of the application you want to run from the search panel.
