The Microsoft brand known worldwide as “Windows Live” will cease to exist by that name, which according to the announcement of last May 26 in the New York Times.
Surely we all have or had used any of the products from the suite of Windows Live Essentials: WL Messenger, WL Movie Maker, WL Mail, etc.
The truth is that Microsoft decided that the name “Windows Live” did not correspond to the products they were promoting (much less “Essentials”) so they will take advantage of the release of Windows 8, its new operating system, to change once and for all the concept of their products.
While they keep on testing new brand strategies, they will continue with the “withdrawal” of Windows Live products as they have already done with the search engine (formerly Windows Live Search, now Bing) and its world-wide known messaging client (formerly Windows Live Messenger now only Messenger – as it began).
